About J.F. Foltz Land & Stone

J.F. Foltz Land & Stone is owned and operated by Jordan Foltz. Jordan is a North Carolina native and has lived in the Asheville Area since 2007. He lives in Woodfin on a small hobby farm with his wife and four children.

Jordan has been working in dry stoneworks for 8 years in a variety of contract and personal capacities. A craftsman and builder in other materials such as wood and tile--Jordan's love of stone derives from its deep cross-cultural lineage throughout the world as well as stone's quality of not only lasting the ages--but getting MORE beautiful and valuable with time. These qualities are rare--but they speak to an ineffable and intrinsic value that is well-worth preserving and honoring in stone masonry. He officially founded J.F. Foltz Land & Stone in 2022.

The growth and development throughout our region has made it a difficult to find good, honest and skilled help for construction projects and very often--with stoneworks and landscaping--sub par work is performed by inexperienced and unconscientious crews which may leave a client with a satisfactory result of a year or two--but will quickly deteriorate thereafter.  We have cleaned up and repaired poorly crafted work too many times and its of utmost importance to us--in honor of  the stone, the craft and our valued clients--to perform our work beautifully and to last the ages the first time.

The company is founded on the simple virtues and decency of generations past that are so often neglected today: the value of a man's word, congeniality among neighbors, the simplicity of hard work and discipline.

The business logo is modeled off of an old plug tobacco tag from Jordan's great great grandfather Francis Marion Bohannon: F.M. Bohannon's Tobacco. It was used to label F.M.'s "Diamond In The Rough" flavor in the 19-teens and 20s. Bohannon was a self-made man who succeeded through his integrity, service, patience and insistence onoperating within his means: dealing in cash--never credit. Bona fide and old school. The tag specifically-- and F.M's brand in general-- represent a time when complicated, circuitous, smoke and mirrors marketing was rare. When a brand made clear what product it was showcasing, the product origin was easily locatable, and the producer was therefore accountable.

F.M.'s brand was his name itself. It, and the Diamond in the Rough tag, spoke to a simple, bold, straight-forward, humble and honest manliness that is a continual inspiration for J.F. Foltz Land & Stone.
