J.F. Foltz Land & Stone is owned and operated by Jordan Foltz, a North Carolina native who has called the Asheville area home since 2007. Jordan lives in Woodfin on a small hobby farm with his wife and four children.
With 8 years of experience in dry stonework, Jordan has developed his craft through a range of professional, contract, and personal projects. In addition to stone masonry, he has worked as a craftsman and builder in materials such as wood and tile, bringing a broad understanding of structure, form, and detail to every project.
Jordan’s love of stone comes from its ancient and cross-cultural history, as well as its rare ability to become more beautiful, valuable, and established with time. Unlike many modern materials, stone does not simply endure. It settles into the landscape, gathers character, and carries a sense of permanence that few other materials can match.
These qualities are central to the work of J.F. Foltz Land & Stone: lasting craftsmanship, respect for natural materials, and a commitment to building outdoor features that are both beautiful and enduring.
Jordan officially founded J.F. Foltz Land & Stone in 2022 to provide the Asheville area with high-quality dry stonework, stone masonry, landscaping, and land improvement services rooted in diligence, integrity, and timeless craft.

The growth and development throughout Western North Carolina has made it harder than ever to find skilled, honest, and dependable help for construction and landscaping projects. Too often, stonework and landscape features are installed by inexperienced or careless crews, leaving clients with work that may look acceptable for a year or two, but quickly begins to shift, crack, wash out, or deteriorate.
At J.F. Foltz Land & Stone, we have repaired and rebuilt poorly crafted work too many times to take shortcuts ourselves. In honor of the stone, the craft, and the clients who trust us with their property, our aim is simple: to build it beautifully, build it properly, and build it to last the first time.
Our company is founded on virtues that are often overlooked today: the value of a man’s word, honest dealings between neighbors, the dignity of hard work, and the discipline to do things the right way even when it takes more time.
The Story Behind the Logo
The J.F. Foltz Land & Stone logo is modeled after an old plug tobacco tag from Jordan Foltz’s great-great-grandfather, Francis Marion Bohannon. The tag was used for F.M. Bohannon’s Tobacco and labeled his “Diamond in the Rough” flavor in the 1910s and 1920s.
Francis Marion Bohannon was a self-made man who built his name through integrity, patience, service, and the discipline of operating within his means. He dealt in cash, not credit. He was bona fide and old-school in the best sense of the phrase.
That old tobacco tag represents more than family history. It points back to a time when a brand was simple, clear, and accountable. The product was plainly named. Its origin was easy to locate. The producer stood behind it with his own name.
F.M. Bohannon’s brand was, in the most direct sense, his name itself. His “Diamond in the Rough” tag reflected a bold, humble, straightforward way of doing business that continues to inspire J.F. Foltz Land & Stone today.
