From expert custom stone masonry to utilitarian drainage and light grading--here are a few examples of projects completed

Custom Paver Driveway, North Asheville
Using Belgard Cambridge Cobble artisan pavers in a 2-stone pattern, this extensive 4,000 sq ft driveway involved demolition of deteriorating asphalt driveway and haul off of asphalt and 10 inches of excavated dirt underneath. Quality high drainage construction involved installation of 2" base of stone ballast, 4" of washed 3/4 stone, then installation of biaxial geogrid for long term stabilization. #78 pea gravel was used as the bedding layer for pavers. Surface edging was completed with ExtremeEdge mortar which was bedded into the geogrid to hold entire structure tight to last the ages.

Custom Stone Staircase with Stem Walls, Weaverville
Using a combination of Carolina Chocolate Gray and locally quarried Hooper's Creek Gray stone, this custom staircase was made leading from the back of a home in Weaverville up to the upper road behind their house. Though incorporating stem walls into a staircase adds to the cost significantly, it improves the function and exponentially improves the aesthetic of the overall project.

Custom Stone Staircase, Alexander
Many of us in WNC compromise our navigation of our outdoor properties by walking up and down embankments to access different parts of the yard or property. This custom staircase used Brown Crab Orchard Slabs as treads and Tennessee Boulders for up and downhill bank retention, creating a beautiful connection for their easy access between upper and lower yards.

Custom Walkway and Entrance Stoop, Weaverville
This walkway and stoop were initially concrete and tile, respectively. The concrete sidewalk was partially removed and re-poured to accomplish appropriate level and grade and the tile stoop was also covered with a base slab for this custom mortared project which used locally-sourced Hooper's Creek Stone. The end product is a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing experience of coming home and welcoming guests.

Custom Walkway, Weaverville
This walkway and stoop were initially poorly constructed, unlevel chunks of small fieldstone laid on bare dirt. The 500 sq ft project involved demoing the. existing path, excavating a contiguous 42" wide pathway and constructing the new tightly jointed Jamestown natural stone surface on a well-packed substrate of #57 gravel with a 1" pea gravel bedding layer.

Stone Patio with Rustic Stone Staircase, North Asheville
The combination of clean, even-surfaced Crab Orchard slabs which were custom cut and chiseled for the patio contrast nicely with the more natural rough finish of the surrounding Tennessee Sandstone retention boulders and steppers.

Class II RipRap Drainage Ditch, Weaverville
This client had experienced years of rainwater problems as his community in Weaverville continued to expand and his culvert was increasingly inundated with dramatic water flows every time there was a heavy rain. While many drainage contractors would have band aided the problem by installing only Class B riprap, we provided a permanent solution with Class II riprap boulders to mediate the Class B and resist the torrential flows, keeping the ditch and bank in shape for many decades to come.

Stone Retaining Wall Terraces, Weaverville
This once useless embankment was split up into three terraces using mid-sized Tennessee Sandstone Boulders to construct three custom retaining walls, allowing the client new space to plant flowers and a finished, beautiful look to the side yard.

Permeable Paver Driveway, North Asheville
This 14 x 18 potholed gravel driveway was transformed into a clean, even walkable driveway and welcoming finished entranceway to the home. Combined with a natural fieldstone walkway leading to the front porch, it allows the clients a firm, clean path to and around their entire property.
